  • (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2013 - PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - Innovative Print & Media Group won three of the coveted Best of Category awards and four Awards of Excellence in the 2013 Neographics awards competition, one of the nation's largest regional contests for graphic communications.

With this year's awards, Innovative has earned 18 Neographics honors in the last two years - five Best of Category and 13 Awards of Excellence.

Sponsored by the Graphic Arts Association, the competition honors the work and service of firms in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware in graphic arts, packaging, converting, design, and publishing.

In this year's competition, Innovative earned Best of Category honors for projects for the American Bible Society, Merkle, and Auxilium.

American Bible Society's Student Mobilization Kit earned a Best of Category for promotional campaigns of more than one piece.

Merkle's Nationwide Retirement Plan Mailing earned a Best of Category for finishing (die cuts, pop-ups, unique folds, and involvement devices).

Auxilium's Xiaflex Visual Aid earned a Best of Category for manuals, training, and other materials (four colors or more).

Best of Category winning entries are automatically entered in the national Printing Industry of America's Premier Print Awards competition by the Graphic Arts Association on behalf of its members.

In addition to its Best of Category honors, Innovative also won Franklin Awards of Excellence in this year's contest for American Bible Society's Stewardship Annual Report, Janney Montgomery Scott's Imagining Yourself at Janney Brochure, the Teva Product Catalog, and the SunGard Sales Readiness Kit.

"To have our work recognized by the Graphic Arts Association is truly an honor," Innovative President Rob Whitman said. "These awards are a testament to the creativity of our team and to our high quality printing solutions. All of these required collaboration by customer, designer, and printer to deliver such excellence!"

That collaboration was especially evident in the entry that won Best of Category for Merkle.

"The thing about this project that most don't realize is, while it's a very engaging design, the solution was developed because of the problem-solving style of the relationship between Merkle and Innovative," noted Eric Hellberg, Merkle's Senior Production Manager. "Initially the concept was supposed to be an affixed portable USB drive containing a video, but the video was late in development, so the web-key concept was introduced as an alternative to begin the direct mail production while the video was being completed.

"It's these types of solutions that make Innovative a valued partner of Merkle," Hellberg said.

Selection of winners is made by teams of judges who examine finished products while considering overall design, successful completion, prepress preparation, and finishing. The number of colors, printing process, and press size also are considered in the judging process.

"The competition this year was extraordinary, so you should be especially proud," the Neographics Awards Committee said in its letter to Innovative announcing its awards. "We are thrilled to tell you that many of your submissions in Neographics 2013 were deemed outstanding by our expert panel of judges."
