  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2011 - "MJ Music Camp @ NCCF will bring our state of the art complex to life with exceptional programming," states Brissett-Chapman. "It houses the Marcus Johnson Music Room, and we're more than proud to align our respective resources to benefit students who are poised to be musicians, vocalists, or lyricists." Chapman further states, "Marcus Johnson is well positioned to guide the development of students who wish to pursue musical and/or vocal arts with his own unique mix of talent and outstanding academic credentials." Johnson holds a JD/MBA from Georgetown University, and is a noted speaker about the business of the music industry. Part of the designed curriculum of the MJ Music Camp @ NCCF will focus on the "10 Truths of the Music Industry" as well as provide students with basic financial skills and terms.

Two additional features of the camp that set it apart from other summer music programs is that students will each complete the program with a CD recording and a professional photograph. Johnson is committed to encouraging the next generation of talent. "Our camp will provide a creative and dynamic environment where talent will be carefully nurtured." Johnson continues, "I look forward to students growing, learning life skills and performing live during our one-week summer session in 2011. We want them to return with enthusiasm as we increase our capacity with two, one-week sessions in summer 2012."

MJ Music Camp @ NCCF is partnering with corporate and private donors to provide no-cost loan guitars and keyboards to students in the program, and based upon successful completion of the camp, students will own their new equipment. To support the program with instruments, electronics, apparel, books and other donated merchandise, please call: 202-486-2941.
