  • (1888PressRelease) July 02, 2010 - Dulles, VA - InfoWeapons, Inc. has released its second-generation SolidPBX™ appliances which could now serve virtual networks, thus increasing its utility and affording customers significant savings.

SolidPBX™ 2.0 features VLAN tagging, which now makes the appliance easier to deploy in enterprise networks with a high number of virtual networks. The use of VLAN or virtual local area networks has exploded in recent years as more and more companies try to maximize the use of its physical networks by grouping users along with the resources (servers, printers, etc.) they need and improving performance by bumping off bandwidth hogs to other segments.

For SolidPBX™ customers, what this feature translates to is optimal use of the appliance as it is now capable of catering every segments on the network both existing and those that will be added in future expansions. It also means significant savings as no other additional devices have to be installed to bring these VLANs within the coverage of the SolidPBX™ appliance.

"At InfoWeapons, our commitment has always been to provide products not just built for the future, but also products that serve practical purpose in today's network. This latest version of our SolidPBX™ appliances introduces features that not only ensures companies are in step with the latest technologies in telephony; but more importantly, for existing customers, it extends the use of their appliance further to include virtual networks that are commonplace in enterprises today, without incurring additional cost," InfoWeapons CEO Luis Gopez says.

Complementing the VLAN support is a more intuitive and user-friendly web management console that has also been improved to enhance user experience. It now includes a new interface to monitor analog port status and configure firewall rules both for WAN and LAN connections.

In previous versions, the administrator is required to enter his login credentials each time he changes appliance settings or add new ones. This is no longer the case in version 2.0. The appliance now remembers user details, including external FXO/FXS gateway IP address and credentials, allowing the administrator to configure the appliance with ease.

Another addition is an external call recording storage capability and an enhanced software update mechanism. Previously, the appliance requires Internet connection to fetch available updates. This new version supports offline updating either through the use of an update CD or by importing the update package into the appliance. These update packages can be downloaded from the InfoWeapons update server.

Capping the latest features is an enhanced deployment wizard that lets you deploy simple VoIP networks in minutes. For complicated VoIP networks, an advanced wizard is also available.

SolidPBX™ 2.0 is available for free to those buying the appliance for the first time and existing customers with unexpired Annual Protection Plans. Models available are Office and Call Center editions.
