  • Indianapolis, IN (1888PressRelease) September 01, 2011 - Two special "Little Sisters" will have a huge surprise for them when they return from School on Monday, September 26th, with a new "Dream Bedroom Make-Over", designed & executed by the Design Staging Specialists and Owners from Home Matters Home Staging and Redesign of Indianapolis.

They, along with staff & volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana and the Indianapolis Art Center are volunteering their time and expertise to make the girls dream a reality!

What inspired volunteer "Big Sisters" Karissa Boehmer of Home Matters and Susan Zunt of IU School of Dentistry to come together to give this surprise gift is a heart-warming story that will touch even the coldest of hearts!

Having been adopted by their grandparents Tammy and Larry Jones when they were just babies, Oreana, (9 yrs.) and Destiny (12 yrs.) often dream about being reunited with their biological parents again someday. With both of their biological parents both living in different states and not having been a part of their lives for over 8 years, it has taken its emotional toll on these brave little girls self esteem. Tammy and Larry do everything they can do provide for them, showering them with love and emotional support, but feel bad at times when their progressive health challenges prevent them from providing the girls with everything they wish they could have!

But, thanks to the support from Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization, Destiny was matched with Karissa, and Oreana with Susan, and now the two "matches" have created such a strong bond with one-another that both were recently asked by their littles to be their "God-Mother" (in which they both accepted!). The new "God Mothers" were honored to be a part of the girls Baptism Ceremony this past Sunday at the Vineyard Church in Greenwood.

No wonder Big Brother Big Sister was voted Nuvo's best place to volunteer in 2011~they have the best volunteers and support staff! It's made a world of difference in the lives of these two girls, Boehmer Stated.

Thanks to the collaboration of BBBS with the Indianapolis Art Center, Destiny has been discovering & exploring her artistic talent through their SMART program! She's made such a big impression on the programs Manager, Erika Villarreal and the local famous Graffiti Artist & Instructor, Holly Combs (featured this year in Nuvo for her "I AM BEAUTIFUL" campaign), that they are both creating and contributing original art pieces for Destiny's new room.

While this is a secret surprise for the girls, Home Matters Design Staging Specialist Greg Henry, along with owners Linda & Gary Barnett are busy volunteering their time assisting Karissa with all the designing details! Their challenge: designing the girls a dream bedroom on a very small budget. Using first what the girls already have in their rooms, they will use their resourcefulness and own crafting skills to create rooms that fit each girl's personality, using their favorite colors and themes. Their plan is to create a space that the girls will love to spend time in, playing in and hanging out with their friends!

After the big reveal, "Before" and "After" photos and/or video will be available to showcase the girl's room make-over, the volunteers work and the surprised reactions of Destiny & Oreana!
