India's 20 most innovative product tech startups showcased at the Grand Finale of TechSparks 2011

  • (1888PressRelease) August 22, 2011 - The 20 companies, selected from over 400 registrants across the country, pitched to a jury comprising of Narendra Bhandari, Director (Asia Pacific), Intel Software & Services Group - Developer Relations Division, Shailendra Singh, Managing Director, Sequoia Capital India, Shane Owenby, Managing Director (Asia Pacific), Amazon Web Services, Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax Informatics, Mekin Maheshwari, President, Engineering, Flipkart.com, Rishi Dhand, Product Manager, Google and Jayaram Pillai, Managing Director (India, Russia, Arabia), National Instruments and the top five companies were announced at the end of the TechSparks pitches.

    The winners were United Mobile Apps (for their product Unify, a mobile platform company engaged in providing seamless data communication across devices, regardless of manufacturer and operating system), IdeaDevice (for their product Epsilon, an end-to-end automation solution for data centre activities), Capillary Technologies (for their platform !nTouch, a customer engagement solutions to retailers and customer-facing businesses through customer data capture), Mediology (a digital publishing company providing full cycle technology solutions for the media and publishing industry) and Reverie Language Technologies (for enhancing mobile usability and user experience by incorporating vernacular languages into phones across the value chain).

    TechSparks 2011, an initiative undertaken by YourStory.in, India's leading online platform for startups and entrepreneurs, was presented by Intel in association with Google, Amazon Web Services, IBM, National Instruments and Sequoia Capital to recognize and celebrate high-potential product technology ventures. The regional rounds of TechSparks 2011 were conducted in New Delhi, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad during the months of May, June and July 2011 and saw more than 1000 entrepreneurs attending the regional events.

    Speaking about the presenting companies at TechSparks 2011 and the quality of technology entrepreneurship in the country, Narendra Bhandari, Director (Asia Pacific), Intel Software & Services Group - Developer Relations Division, said, "The median quality of companies that presented were amazing and it reaffirmed our faith in India's steady growth as a destination for product innovation. These startups have been selected from across India and by a panel of highly accomplished people from the industry and we're hoping that this provides the much-needed validation required for these early stage product ventures to scale up and create global impact."

    In addition to the showcase of the top 20 product tech companies and the top 10 mobile and web apps in a section titled App4India, the TechSparks Grand Finale also featured the unveiling of the "Tech30" report, India's first benchmarking document for product technology startups in the pre-growth phase. The Tech30 report included the 20 companies that made it to the Grand Finale of TechSparks, along with the 10 others creating disruptive solutions across various domains. Copies of the Tech30 report were distributed to all the delegates attending the TechSparks Grand Finale and it was also shared with the decision-makers across the technology industry and the investment community.
