    Speaking about GPC Mr. Pravin Dongre, President of IPGA said, "Asia is the focus of attention of the world pulses market participants. GPC will enable stakeholders in the pulses sector - Producers, Processors, Traders, Consumers, Machinery Suppliers, Policy Makers, Financiers, Analysts and related others - to get together and plan their business strategies for the year ahead by networking with business associates from around the world".

    Shri Sharad Pawar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Union Minister of Food Processing Industries will grace GPC as the Chief Guest. Prof K. V. Thomas, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Food, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution has consented to deliver the valedictory address. Some important policy announcements are expected to be made at GPC.

    Mr. G Chandrashekhar, Chairman of GPC Organizing Committee said, "GPC will have three key components namely a Seminar, an Exhibition and a series of B2B (Business-to-Business) meetings between participants.
    The Seminar will have a series of stimulating presentations by expert speakers from India and abroad. An engaging aspect of GPC will be the much-awaited MARKET OUTLOOK and PRICE OUTLOOK sessions that will crystal gaze market dynamics in the months ahead".

    The Secretary, Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Shri Rajiv Agarwal IAS will speak on Government's Policy Perspective for the Pulses Sector. Mr. Brian Clancey, Publisher & Editor, STAT Publishing will speak on 'The Global Pulses Market and Supply Outlook for 2012'. An interactive session on 'Plant Quarantine Issue' has been planned. The highlight of the Seminar would be 'Pulses Price Outlook for 2012' by an eminent panel of experts.

    A number of B2B meetings are expected to take place, with tremendous networking opportunity for pulses buyers & sellers as well as for service providers. As February is the month of India's Rabi harvest, a large number of trade transactions and deals are likely to be struck during the Conclave. At the moment, IPGA is planning a crop survey, results of which if available may be announced during the Conclave.

    The GPC is already attracting a lot of attention from across the globe and a strong contingent of Indian and International delegates will participate. About 450-500 delegates are expected to attend the 3-day conclave with over 150 delegates coming in from abroad. As on date, well over 250 delegates have already registered of which 75 are from abroad. More registrations are pouring in. Apart from India, delegates are expected from Canada, USA, China, MENA (Middle East & North Africa), Singapore, Australia and India's South Asian neighbors.

    GPC will seek to refocus the attention of Indian policy makers on the pulses sector in terms of production, processing, distribution, value addition and nutritional aspects as also bring to fore issues that impact the pulses industry & trade as well as seek long-term sustainable solutions. At the international level, GPC will help propel IPGA to greater heights and invest it with an influential voice to play a constructive role in the healthy development of the global pulses sector.
