  • (1888PressRelease) August 28, 2010 - On January 1, 2011, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)'s Incoterms ® 2010 will replace Incoterms® 2000 as the new authoritative text for determining how costs, risks, and other responsibilities are allocated to the two parties (seller/buyer) in a sales transaction.

    To help the international trade industry become comfortable with the upcoming release of the rules, Unz & Co. has added a new training program to their roster. The Incoterms® 2010 one-day seminar will address the first significant changes to be made in a decade.

    These changes involve updates and consolidations of the former rules. Special consideration has been paid to security-related shipment clearance and use of the rules for domestic transactions.

    The new classification system will divide the eleven Incoterms® into two groups:

    ALL MODES OF TRANSPORTATION:
    * EXW: Ex Works
    * FCA: Free Carrier
    * CPT: Carriage Paid To
    * CIP: Carriage and Insurance Paid
    * DAT: Delivered At Terminal
    * DAP: Delivered At Place
    * DDP: Delivered Duty Paid

    SEA AND INLAND WATERWAY TRANSPORTATION:
    * FAS: Free Alongside Ship
    * FOB: Free On Board
    * CFR: Cost and Freight
    * CIF: Cost, Insurance, and Freight

    Because of the revisions, Incoterms® currently used for a contract may no longer be appropriate. "Being aware of the newly changed terms as soon as possible is vital to a business' success," said Daniel Scott, president of Unz & Co. "In this new global economy, every penny counts. And you want to make sure that you negotiate the best deal possible."

    Incoterms® 2010 training will be held in major U.S. cities including New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Diego. Dates and additional locations around the country can be found on Unz & Co.'s website: http://www.unzco.com/training/incoterms2010.htm. Cost per seminar (includes take-home materials and the official ICC rulebook) is $375. To register, contact Unz & Co.'s customer service department at 1-800-631-3098 or sign up online at http://unzco.com. Preorders of ICC's Incoterms® 2010 book are also available.
