  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) August 11, 2023 - To celebrate National Non-Profit Day on August 17th, the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center invites non-profit leaders and their volunteers to the CCV Center in downtown Clearwater.

The open house will begin at 2pm and will go until 6pm. The center is located at 133 N. Fort Harrison Ave.

“National non-profit day raises awareness of how the non-profit sector helps build better communities,” said Tracy Hawkins, the Director of the Center. “We want to thank our non-profit partners as well as introduce new non-profits to our center.”

The CCV Center opened in 2018 and was built to provide access to computers, a conference room and a multi-purpose room for meetings and events with ample space to network and collaborate with others—at no cost for local charities.

The Center was inspired by the work of the Clearwater Community Volunteers. Since 1994 the Clearwater Community Volunteers has served more than 150,000 children and families, delivered 50 tons of food and toys to the homeless and children of Tampa Bay, and so much more. The group’s yearly events for children and families, like the Giant Easter Egg Hunt and Winter Wonderland, and fundraisers like Fashions with Flair, have become staples for the local community.

“Working with those non-profits who just need a little help to get rolling is very rewarding,” said Ms. Hawkins. “The leaders of these non-profits have a passion and a purpose to help.”

National Non-Profit Day was founded in 2017 by author and speaker Sherita J. Herring. Ms. Herring’s goal was to educate and empower others to do their part to make a better world.

In honor of Ms. Herring’s goal, the CCV Center will honor local non-profits – their staff and volunteers at their August 17th Open House. Light refreshments will be served. Please call 727-316-5309 for more information.
