  • (1888PressRelease) February 04, 2012 - Over 800 Global leaders in Sports Medicine are now expected to congregate at the largest football medicine conference in the world, held at Stamford Bridge over the weekend of April 21-22. Early registration figures, released by the conference organisers this week, indicate that delegates will travel to London from at least 40 different countries to attend this landmark event.

The decision to bring the conference to London for the first time in its twenty year history was stimulated by a growing number of international delegates at past conferences and London's transformation into an international sporting hub ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

The organisers of the event, Isokinetic Medical Group, are international leaders in the field of sports medicine and rehabilitation and have been recognised by FIFA as a Medical Centre of Excellence, a claim that no UK-based company can match. Working closely with co-hosts FIFA and The FA, they have recruited a distinguished panel of over 90 Sports Medicine experts to present some of the latest developments in the field.

With over 3 months to go, delegates include staff from a number of national governing bodies across the Home Nations, Americas and Europe, University-based professors and surgeons from Cardiff to Rome as well as sports physicians, physiotherapists and fitness staff from the likes of Real Madrid FC, Boca Juniors, Juventus FC, Manchester City FC and LA Galaxy. The international nature of this conference is unique in Sports Medicine, contributing to global best practice and the sharing of knowledge across networks.

The focus of this year's event is the Footballer's Knee. With injuries to the knee amongst the most prevalent in Sports Medicine, this event will provide medical practitioners with an opportunity to update their strategies for the prevention, treatment and management of all knee injuries.

Scientific Director for the conference, Giulio Sergio Roi said: "Knee injuries can be devastating, which is such a shame when they can often be prevented or more effectively treated with the appropriate knowledge.

"This conference aims to provide delegates with a better understanding of how best to prevent, diagnose and treat a range of knee injuries through the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research. I'd strongly recommend anyone involved in sports rehabilitation to join us in April as they are sure to learn something from the industry's leaders."

Early registration for the conference is now closed, however, those interested in attending can still reserve a place here: http://bit.ly/wtDDif
