  • (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2014 - Bristol, UK - Imetrum is pleased to announce that it will be showing its innovative Video Gauge Measurement System on the stand of its distributor for the rail industry, Korec at Infrarail from 20-22 May 2014 at Earls Court 2, London. This new non-contact precision measurement video monitoring system can be seen on Stand C14 and product specialists will be on hand for demonstrations and to answer specific queries.

Korec are well established within the rail industry and provide survey, mapping, machine control and construction solutions and became sole UK distributors for the Imetrum system in 2013. Video Gauge complements Korec's other products by providing a system that enables track and structural engineers to monitor a number of targets simultaneously, at high speeds, without the need to access the structure itself. Network Rail's survey team originally highlighted this requirement and the solution was provided by the partnership between Imetrum and Korec.

The Video Gauge provides a revolutionary way of making dynamic in-situ high resolution measurements without the need to access a structure. It is able to monitor movement to better than 0.1mm to a wide range of structures, under loading, without the need for possessions, traffic management, working from height or over water. This leads to safer working practices and substantial time and cost savings when compared with traditional instrumentation.

The Imetrum Video Gauge uses pattern recognition technology, robust industrial grade cameras and the world's most accurate image correlation algorithms to measure on live video images.

Korec Rail Consultant Matthew Lock said, "No other system exists that can monitor multiple points, from a distance, with such a high level of accuracy, under train loading. KOREC is in a unique position to offer something that we feel is completely new and of real benefit to the UK rail industry, whether it is used for investigations of voiding under sleepers at critical locations, pin-pointing areas of weak formation or structural analysis of bridges."
