  • (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2011 - New Delhi, INDIA - HP's flagship social innovation initiative - Write&Read will host its next creative short story writing workshop in New Delhi on October 14 and 15, 2011. Aimed at nurturing the creativity of young minds, the New Delhi Workshop is the penultimate in a series of six Write&Read workshops held across India, and is open to participation from young children between the ages of 9 and 14.

    The earlier, hugely successful HP Write&Read workshops have been conducted in Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata and Chennai. The New Delhi workshop is being organised at National Co-operative Union of India (NCUI Auditorium), 3, Siri Institutional Area, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi 110016 on October 14 and 15 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. To participate in the workshop, schools and children can register through www.hpwriteandread.com.

    The Program includes a session with Prasoon Joshi - prolific lyricist and the creative mentor for HP-IPG's Write&Read Initiative on October 15, 2011 - who will introduce the participants to the finer aspects of the art of storytelling. Geeta Dharmarajan, Writer, Founder and Executive Director, Katha, will conduct a session on key elements of story writing. With several creatively designed modules, the workshop will be an engaging experience for the students.

    HP's Write&Read is a unique initiative for children, by children by HP's Imaging & Printing Group (HP-IPG). It is a collaborative story-writing program in association with Katha, an NGO that brings children living in poverty into reading and quality education, and is driven by HP's industry-leading imaging and printing technologies to bring young students' imagination to life.

    After New Delhi, the sixth and the final workshop will be conducted in Mumbai from October 20-22, 2011. Upon culmination of the workshops, the final 50 best entries, shortlisted through a rigorous judging process supervised by Prasoon Joshi, will be published in the form of a book of short stories for the children, by the children.
    "Over 900 kids have already participated in the HP Write&Read workshop conducted in Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata and Chennai. We are now ready to embark on our fifth workshop in New Delhi with an aim to assist children hone their creative writing skills and assimilate the figments of their imagination to develop distinctive writing style. We continue to encourage children to pen down creative short stories, which we will proudly showcase to the world," said Neeraj Sharma, President, Imaging & Printing Group, HP.

    HP is supporting Write&Read workshops with web-connected printers, which enable children to interact directly with content on the Web via Print Apps and also complement their thoughts with rich visual depictions.
