Houston Auto Repair Shop Bucks Economic Trends

  • (1888PressRelease) April 19, 2011 - In just six years, Mohamed Yousef, known as Joseph to his customers and employees, has grown into a major power house in the Houston market place. His new "full-service" mechanical and collision repair facility, Motor Haus of Greater Houston, is set to open on May 2, 2011, in an economically challenged area of town between I-45 and I-59, on the Hardy Toll Road. By taking advantage of a neighborhood that is ready to start growing, his 12 Bay repair facility, 15 wreckers, and 28 employees are looking to the future with pride and determination.

Joseph is excited about the new opportunity he has here. "Six years ago I started with just one wrecker. Since then I have added a storage lot, grown to a fleet of 15 wreckers, and now have this new shop, Motor Haus of Greater Houston. Life is good!" Like so many other business owners know, money has been tight. Still, by offering a honest commitment to his customers, he has overcome the problems of recent economic times. "With my 15 wreckers, I can be available to offer assistance on a 24/7 basis in my community here," he said. "In addition," he added, "my location offers convenience to customers in Downtown Houston. No matter what they need, I can offer them full mechanical and collision repair, as well as towing and roadside service anywhere in the Houston area." His wreckers are all late model vehicles, and include both wheel lift and flat bed units. So, no matter what kind of vehicle you have, he can offer you top-of-the-line services.

When asked, "How do you overcome the high price of new structures?", Mike Terry, responsible for Market Development, responded, "Simple, make use of what is here instead of tearing it down and starting over." Case in point, the building itself. Just completed is a full remodeling and re-paint of the building inside and out. Adding a new rock facade, a liberal use of neon, and fresh paint and you have a like-new structure at a fraction of the price of brand new construction. "Even in the best of times, overlooking the advantages of what we have in favor of expensive, new construction uses up funds better used in training and upgrading of equipment," he added. "Doing it this way, we were able to hire other businesses in the community for the work, thus adding to the city's economy."

With a strong sense of recycling, as seen with the building, a further example of Joseph's commitment to the environment is seen in his choice of refinishing materials. Only a handful of shops in the Houston area have switched over to the new "water-based" auto refinishing systems. When Joseph was asked about his choice of paint systems, he responded, "We have gone with PPG and their system because it is a full water-based paint system. Unlike others using a solvent based clear with a water-borne base, everything we spray is water based. It greatly reduces our VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) output by more than half. It will reduce our waste product, cut down on material used, and be better for my neighbors, my employees, and the environment in general."

To further their use of up-to-date equipment, they have just completed installation of a state-of-the-art computerized alignment machine. In addition, they are waiting for delivery of a new computerized frame measuring system. "We want good equipment, obviously, but we also want user friendly equipment, " Joseph said. "After all, ease of use and ease to learn are important for our workers at all levels. If it is teachable, and learnable, then our people are more likely to use it to our customers advantage. I didn't want something that takes a college degree to work!"

With everything they offer, the full line of services with mechanical and body departments, 24/7 wrecker; convenient location in the North Central Houston area with easy access to downtown; a family owned business; and contact with the owner on a daily basis; it would seem that it is true what they say.... Motor Haus of Greater Houston is "Where Service Comes First!"
