  • (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2012 - In Syracuse, you always have a chance to participate in something bigger than yourself and one such example would be the Go Red for Women Campaign from the American Heart Association.

The Go for Red Campaign is jointly organized by the CNY Woman Magazine of Today and Believe, Inspire, and Grow (B.I.G.), a networking group formed by local women of Manlius, New York. The two organizations had partnered up to increase public awareness and encourage donations through their fundraising luncheon, I (Heart) Women. It will be held at the Calvary Club, 4801 Troop K Road, on the 8th of February, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

If pink is the color of breast cancer, then the two groups want people to go red for heart disease in the month of love. The campaign was launched by the AHA in hopes of further educating women about heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for women. Unfortunately, such statistics are made worse by the fact that only 1 out of 5 women believe they can suffer from this disease. Moreover, only fifty percent of the female population is knowledgeable about which signs and symptoms are associated most closely with heart disease.

Various speakers have been invited to participate in the event and which include the likes of LeishaTedford, a heart disease survivor. Nutritionist Laurie Palmiermo, radiologist Benjamin McDaniel, and cardiologist UzmaIqbal are among the other speakers slated to give lectures or seminars for attendees.

House of Syracuse NY owners who are interested in joining the event are invited to visit the official websites of organizers of the event at http://todayscnywoman.com and http://justthinkbig.us.
