  • (1888PressRelease) May 13, 2011 - When a mother has a child admitted in the hospital, nothing else seems to matter. She will endure sleepless nights, only to ensure her child receives the best care and attention. Some even miss special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries as they have other priorities to attend to, which is the well being of her child. Realizing this, the management and staff of Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur decided to honor and show their appreciation to all mothers in conjunction of the recent Mother's Day.

A huge heart-shaped cake (36"x36") with the words 'I Love You Mom' was presented to mothers who are admitted in the hospital or who have been taking care of their unwell children. The mothers also received a stalk of rose from the staff. One of the mothers, Pushpa Ram, 35, who is caring for her child at hospital, said the gesture was much appreciated.

"When you have a loved one admitted in the hospital, everyday is filled with sadness and emptiness. You don't remember any special occasion anymore. Thanks to the hospital staff for making mothers like me feel so much appreciated on this day," said the teary eyed Pushpa.

Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Amir Firdaus Abdullah said that Mother's Day celebration has been an annual affair for the hospital.

"The first time when we started our Mother's Day celebrations, we were overwhelmed by the response. One patient said it was the first time she had ever received flowers. That is when we decided to make it an annual effort. For us, this is our small way to honor them on their special day," he said.

Nurses who were at work also were caught by surprise. They too received cakes and roses.
Seorang pesakit kata ia ialah kali pertama, dia tidak pernah menerima bunga. Itu apabila kami memutuskan untuk membuat ia satu usaha tahunan.
