  • (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2011 - Dubai, UAE - The healthcare industry in the Middle East appears to remain recession proof. The healthcare sector has emerged as one of the few stable industries that firms can turn to during a prolonged period of market uncertainty. The development and construction of thousands of new hospital projects has created business interests for everyone considering developing projects in the region.

Within the GCC alone, Qatar is witnessing a rapid rise in the number of private health care facilities, with a total of 91 new facilities established in the country only last year. Authorities in the UAE are also planning to invest US$1.6 billion to improve infrastructure in less developed regions of the country which will ultimately boost services such as healthcare.

IIR Middle East, part of Informa Plc, organisers of the 3rd Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress, which will take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 - 15 June 2011, see a bright future for healthcare projects in the Middle East.

"Healthcare offers the most security in terms of investment right now," says Simon Page, Divisional Director, IIR Life Sciences Middle East and Asia. "Reflective of this trend is the fact that Hospital Build Middle East 2011 is set to double in size with more than 100 exhibitors covering 3,000sqm of exhibition floor space net, an estimated 3,500 visitors, as well as more than 500 conference delegates. This represents a 100% increase year-on-year in floor space net at the event.

"Having out-grown the Maktoum Hall at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hospital Build Middle East 2011 will be held in the larger Rashid Hall to accommodate the increasing number of exhibiting companies."

The Hospital Build brand was launched in 2009, with inaugural events taking place in Singapore and Dubai. Following on from the successes of their respective second editions in 2010, two new editions have been added to the portfolio, Hospital Build China and Hospital Build Europe which will see their inaugural shows take place in 2011.

"Our sister event, Hospital Infrastructure India, also saw the launch of its first show in December 2011 with an impressive 55% re-bookings completed during the event demonstrating the strength of the market in that region," says Page.

Hospital Build Middle East 2011 is supported by UAE Ministry of Health and Health and Dubai Health Authority and will bring investors, commissioners and managers of major healthcare building projects together with planning, design, building, operations, and management and refurbishment suppliers.

The multinational platform will showcase exhibitors from 23 countries from around the globe including industry leaders such as Karl Storz, Trumpf, GE Healthcare, Siemens, Philips and Olympus.

Also exhibiting again this year is Via Technology, a leading provider of healthcare IT solutions. Ms Aliaa Adel Ali, Marketing Consultant at Via Technology, said: "The GCC healthcare sector is poised for strong growth along with fundamental and structural changes. Hospital Build Middle East will be a very good opportunity to be exposed to the healthcare needs of the region and a good chance to meet excellent professionals from the different healthcare institutions and organisations."

The 3rd Hospital Build Awards are now open for submissions until 28 April 2011. The Awards are a platform to recognise leaders in the healthcare industry who have devoted their efforts to building hospitals that help improve healthcare services and raise the bar in providing world-class patient care. This year entries will be accepted for a new category, Best Technology Initiative Award.

Running alongside the exhibition is a multi-disciplinary congress consisting of nine leading conferences that will focus on delivering up-to-date information which will address healthcare technology applications, hospital build and design, investment and finance, healthcare marketing, workflow management, quality, standards and accreditation, and the leading conference in the it's field, leaders in healthcare.
