Hong Kong Updates List of Standards Demonstrating Compliance with Toys and Children’s Products Safety Standards

  • (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2018 - On April 6, 2018, the Hong Kong government published a new list of standards in the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance. This list contains international standards and/or standards adopted by major economies that demonstrate compliance or allow presumption of conformity with Hong Kong’s current safety requirements for toys and children’s products.

    The changes, published as (Amendment of Schedules 1 and 2) Notice 2018 under Number 63 to Legal Supplement No. 2 in the Hong Kong Gazette (Number 14, Volume 22), include the following new standards:

    • Electric toys - IEC 62115:2017 Edition 2.0
    • Toys - ASTM F963-17 and BS EN 71-12:2016
    • Babies’ dummies - ASTM F963-17
    • Children’s high chairs and multi-purpose high chairs for domestic use - ASTM F404-17
    • Children’s paints - ASTM F963-17 and AS/ANS ISO 8124.3:2012 Amendment 1:2016

    The new standards will come into effect on August 1, 2018, and stakeholders are now advised to check their products are compliant with the latest requirements for toys and children’s products before accessing the Hong Kong market.
