  • (1888PressRelease) September 18, 2012 - The announcement, made by the HKSI Chairman Mr Anthony Muh, also said that the Institute's acronym of 'HKSI' would be retained but that a new corporate identity and logo would be used.

Mr Muh commented: "We have entered a very important and exciting phase for the HKSI. The Institute, which enjoys a strong foundation established and strengthened over the past 15 years, is now well placed for new services, more programmes, and continued growth."

"Hence having a name that includes the investment sector, and adopting a new logo and visual representation for the Institute, is both timely and appropriate," Mr Muh added.

Earlier market research conducted by the HKSI indicates that it is a readily-recognised brand and 'a well-regarded organisation'. The Institute, already well known in the finance industry, is perceived as trustworthy, functional, and reputable. Its new name highlights the fact that the HKSI serves both the securities and the investment sectors of the financial industry, including those involved in asset management, wealth management, and alternative investments.

The HKSI is a professional membership organisation that was established in December 1997 for the securities and investment industry in the region.

The HKSI logo has also been changed and updated. The new rhombus shape and lines depict forward movement and point to HKSI's multi-faceted services: professional examinations, training, events, and membership.

Indigo and red have been used to depict qualities such as trustworthiness and wisdom, as well as to reflect the Institute's heritage. The modern font adds to the logo's contemporary look and feel.

Overall, the lines and movements of the dynamic logo reflect the fact that the HKSI is simultaneously proactive and reactive to market changes and needs.

Chief Executive of the HKSI, Mr S F Wong said, "While we are pleased with the HKSI's track record of successes over the past 15 years, we also see new challenges and more opportunities for the Institute in light of global changes in the financial industry."

Mr Wong added, "Our name change and new logo therefore emphasise our core competencies and offer a clear statement of our future direction and role. They are in line with our vision of becoming a leading organisation in the industry in respect of standards, professional examinations, membership, training, and events."

In addition to retaining the acronym 'HKSI', the Institute's official website (www.hksi.org) remains unchanged.
