  • (1888PressRelease) October 02, 2015 - Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G has the Mid-Autumn package, which sees those who book online and prepay a stay in a one bedroom unit between 17 and 30 September 2015 get a 10 per cent discount with complimentary breakfast and parking.

The choice of one bedroom units at this popular Hong Kong serviced apartment property situated on the Tsuen Wan (New Territories) shoreline overlooking the South China Sea and iconic Tsing Ma Bridge, consists of 1 Bedroom with Sea View, Deluxe 1 Bedroom with Sea View and Deluxe 1 Bedroom with Terrace apartments. There are also Studios and Deluxe Studios.

Formerly The Bay Bridge Hong Kong Hotel & Serviced Apartments, the property earlier this year rebranded to Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G and took on the image of an 'Urban Escape' following a renovation of its serviced apartment units, public areas, restaurant and lobby.

In celebration of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, hotel booking site Agoda.com offered hotel specials in Taiwan, Macau, South Korea and Hong Kong with bookings to be made in the first half of September for stays during and after the festival.

Celebrated since the early Tang dynasty (618 to 907), the Mid-Autumn Festival sees neighbourhoods across Hong Kong host enchanting lantern displays and carnivals, and the staging of enthralling dragon dances.

It's also a time for moon cakes. These are an integral part of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and are believed to have originated with Yuan dynasty (1271 to 1368) revolutionaries said to have used them to pass secret messages among themselves.

Sold at numerous shops, restaurants and other outlets throughout Hong Kong during the festival, these delicious pastries - traditionally infused with embedded egg yolks and lotus seed - come today in a vast array of tantalizing flavours.

Much of the accommodation in Hong Kong runs moon cake promotions at their food and beverage outlets. As examples, this year InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong was offering its Exquisite Mooncake Collections, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong a 'limited edition' gift set of moon cakes and Harbour Plaza North Point a choice of Mooncake Gift Sets.

Among the lantern displays and carnivals on during the Mid-Autumn Festival are the Mid-Autumn Thematic Lantern Display 2015: Blossom Beneath the Moon at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui, the New Territories East Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival at Sha Tin Park, the Urban Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival at Victoria Park and the New Territories West Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival at Tsing Yi Park. Dates and times can be found on the Hong Kong Tourism Board website.

Taking place over the three days of 26, 27 and 28 September is the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, a dazzling spectacle involving nearly 300 performers, over 70,000 incense sticks and a 67-metre long Fire Dragon that will wind its way through the streets of Tai Hang in Causeway Bay each evening starting at about 7.30 pm. The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance has its origin in the 19th Century when Tai Hang villagers ended a run of ill luck by performing this fiery ritual. In doing so they inadvertently launched a tradition that is today recognized as part of China's intangible cultural heritage.

On the evening of 27 September from 6.30 pm onward there is also the Pok Fu Lam Village Fire Dragon Dance, in which locals dance their dragon through the village to the sea for a ritualistic 'return to the sea' ceremony.
