  • (1888PressRelease) May 20, 2021 - Hitachi Solutions, the global leader in open cloud solutions, today announced a partnership with Women In Cloud, an economic development organization dedicated to advancing gender inclusion in technology, for the #WICxFortune100 Initiative.

Hitachi is supporting the #WICxFortune100 Initiative, a turnkey equity access program for Fortune 100 corporations to come together to collectively solve gender-equity challenges. Women in Cloud is committed to developing the next generation of women entrepreneurs and leaders in the field of cloud computing, to lead initiatives around cloud computing for gender parity; by supporting the #WICxFortune100 Initiative, Hitachi is committed to supporting the growth of the global economy through the advancement of gender inclusion.

Allowing gender inequality to impact the workforce post-Covid19 will have a detrimental impact on the economy in general. The McKinsey study mentioned above estimates that if the current “gender regressive” situation is not addressed, global GDP could be $1 trillion lower by 2030; conversely, if measures are taken, global GDP could improve by $13 trillion by 2030. So, let’s take action for the benefit of women—and we will all benefit.

“Hitachi is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion across the company, with a focus on reaching gender parity at all levels of the organization. Our partnership with Women in Cloud focused on joining the movement to solve the impending global economic crisis for women and building a more inclusive and empowering tech industry for all”, Sharan Hildebrand, VP of Hitachi Systems.

"Our relationship with Women in Cloud is invaluable, as it's elevated our ability to provide robust programming, networking, and education to the women of Hitachi Solutions. DEI is a top priority for our organization and the Women in Cloud community is accelerating our ability to meet our goals”, she further added.

As part of this partnership, Women In Cloud will be hosting the first of a series of events. The “Fortune100 Lunch and Learn Series” will bring together female entrepreneurs and female founders of cloud-based companies to connect with key leaders from Hitachi and other cloud industry leaders. These events will provide attendees with insights and information about the cloud industry, and will also help them to network with other women in the industry. The virtual event will be held on March 14, 2021.

“Through the #WICxFortune100 Initiative, we are excited to have Hitachi join the ‘Billion Dollar Access Coalition’ and become the linchpin in solving matters related to representation, job displacement, and supplier diversity allocation to create $1B in economic impact. Enabling the creation of a powerful community can avert the impending global crisis with women leading the change in the industry”, commented Chaitra Vedullapalli, Co-Founder and President, Women in Cloud
