  • (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2018 - The South Korean tyre tycoon, Hankook is all set to introduce at least two different models of winter tyres globally. These two models derive inspiration from car rallies. While not much information is available on these new models, two things are certain: they will have greater functionality in winters and on snowy surfaces.

Secondly, these models will possibly have very competitive prices. Now, read on as all the details available on Hankook’s new models reveal themselves. What’s up with these new models?

Hankook has been very busy lately in manufacturing tyres of all varieties. However, since winter is en route, its winter tyres division is more active.

They will launch two models this year, perhaps more. Both will be part of Hankook’s “Winter i'Pike” range. They will be known as the i’Pike SR10 and the SR10W. Of these two, the latter is an advanced model of the former and will be more expensive.

One common trait of these models is that they draw inspiration from racing car tyres. It is significant because rally cars mean high speeds. Most tyres in the UK, like the tyres in Manchester, do not have all of the features which make these models unique.

    An all-new range
As of now, these new models share two new features. First and foremost, Hankook’s new i’Pike SR10 will come only in a single profile: 110/650R16. The overall diameter of these tyres is 647mm, making it one of the most stable tyres available. With a tread depth of 110mm and a section width of 159mm, this tyre will serve both demands: high speed with excellent cornering ability, and a steady ride on the harshest terrains.

The second model is the SR10W. It is for off-road and wintery conditions. Like its partner, this model too will arrive in one size initially: 160/650R15. Again, the overall diameter of the SR10W is a superb 647mm, while the section width and tread width are, respectively, 207mm and 156mm.

    What’s new?
Two factors stand out in this range: a very different tread pattern with more prominent grooves along the sides. It means that these tyres will be able to manoeuvre better than most comparable tyres. Besides, these tyres will also provide better control over hostile terrain.

Also, Hankook believes that these new models will have much better control over tyre noise, a prime culprit in noise pollution globally. Ordinarily, winter tyres are notorious for their high noise emission levels. These new models will not have those issues.

    Where can you buy them?
Note that these models are yet to hit global markets. A source hints at what Hankook plans to do this year. Reliable retailers like Gilgal Tyres in Manchester will start stocking them as soon as they launch. A slew of summer and all-weather tyres are next in line. There is no word on the price tags as of now.
