Hallmark Institute Of Photography Welcomes Its 43rd Class Into Its 10 Month Professional Photography Program
On September 11, 2013, Hallmark Institute of Photography welcomed its 43rd class into its 10 month Professional Photography program. Students came from all over the United States to start on their educational journey to a career as a professional photographer.
- (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2013 - Turners Falls, MA - The first 3 days of classes were highlighted with presentations by Hallmark's Artist in Residence, Gregory Heisler, and special guest speakers Barbara Bordnick and Clay Patrick McBride. Each of these highly successful working professionals shared their insight and inspiration to the class in each of their respective fields.
Hallmark is a fast paced and intensive program that provides 1400 clock hours of instruction into a highly focused 10 months. During the first days of classes, students were issued each their own Canon 5D Mark III DSLR camera and Sekonic light meter to use as their tools of instruction for the duration of the program. Students are supplemented with additional equipment as they progress through the program and also have access to a wealth of gear that they can borrow from Hallmark's well stocked equipment cage. "It's imperative that students get their hands on, and learn how to use, the equipment that is standard in the industry right away. That has to start in the very first days of classes in order for us to achieve our objectives in the program," says Ed Martin, Campus President.
During the first week of classes, students learn the basics of camera controls and start to learn how to see "light" by in-class lectures and field trips to local communities to utilize the information that is being taught. Lisa Robinson, Director of Education says, "The philosophy is simple… learn a piece of information or technique and utilize it as part of an assignment immediately. These pieces are building blocks that are added to each week as we progress through the program and skills are layered on top of each other towards the final objective of having the skills necessary for a successful career in professional photography."
At the conclusion of the 40 weeks of training, students will have a solid and diverse understanding of the skills of professional photography. They will have a substantial portfolio of images that will demonstrate their ability as image makers along with a thorough career business plan that outlines their steps to a successful career in professional photography geared specifically to their goals and dreams.
