  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2010 - Walk into Highpoint Healing and Wellness in Lauderdale Lakes and you'll be amazed at the cross section of patients. Men and women of all ages and backgrounds come here for treatment for pain, stress, and other common ailments. The owner, Dr. Valencie Exceus AKA Dr. Vie, is excited the South Florida community is finally seeing the benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. The growing interest has prompted her to expand her practice and she's planning to unveil a new and larger facility on Sunday October 24th-a day that has been proclaimed nationally as Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day.

There has long been a stigma associated with alternative medicine but Dr. Exceus, an Acupuncture Physician/Doctor of Oriental Medicine, says it's not meant to take the place of traditional medicine. "What I do is present people with options. If they don't want invasive surgery, if they don't want medicines with all those side effects, I work in tandem with their doctors to make my patients the healthiest they can be."

Even as a young girl in Haiti Dr. Vie had a passion for learning about the healing properties of plants. By the time she immigrated to the U.S. at age 12, she knew more about herbal medicine than her mother and her grandmother. She was drawn to study Oriental medicine, with its thousands-year-old cures that are still used today.

Dr. Vie, is licensed by the state of Florida as a primary care provider and board-certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has spoken at Florida Atlantic University, The Haitian American Association Against Cancer, United for Life (a marriage and family therapy clinic), churches, health fairs and non-profit organizations. She has also been featured on several radio talk shows across Florida and the Caribbean.

She successfully treats a litany of illnesses and disorders including migraines, lower back pain, arthritis, insomnia, stress, anxiety, digestive disorders, muscle and nerve disorders, and irregular or painful menstruation.

An open house and ribbon cutting of the new facility located at 3500 N. State Road 7, Suite 207 in Lauderdale Lakes will be held Sunday, October 24th between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Learn more at www.highpointhealing.com or call 954-390-0411.
