  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 24, 2012 - Momentum Education's Leadership Team 78 is partnering with Flatbush Farm and Garden Group to expand a sustainable garden located in the Flatbush, Brooklyn community. The project will take place on Saturday, August 25th from 8am to 5pm on Bedford Avenue between Glenwood and Campus Road.

The space, spanning approximately 2,500 square feet, is located near Midwood Highschool, PS 152 and PS 315. Although, the community has worked to restore the area for over 15 years, there is still a larger vision for the potential of this space. Plans under the legacy project will be to plant herbs, flower beds, revive tree pits and even complete the construction of a fence to protect the garden. In addition to transforming the area, the members of Leadership Team 78, have secured sponsorship from the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (MBBA), NYC Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, 42nd Assembly District Leader Rodneyse Bichotte and EcoStation: NY, a Brooklyn based non-profit organization dedicated to food security and environmental justice. "Green initiatives like this project help to unite the community by creating a sustainable garden which can be maintained by the students and the community at large. We are honored to be part of this process," states Dweynie Paul Esq., Director of Community Service for the MBBA.

With a green future ahead and a fresh start, this garden will certainly rejuvenate a community and implant a legacy.
