- (1888PressRelease) March 06, 2025 - Bringing Lofot-Rap to the World with Humor, Beats, and Coastal Culture
Lofoten’s own rap pioneers, Gravdal Gangstaz and Nerri Fjæra, are back with their latest EP, Brennvin & Fesk. This highly anticipated release blends humor, high-energy beats, and Northern Norwegian self-irony, marking a milestone in the unique subgenre of Lofot-Rap.
Timed for Den store brennevinsdagen—an increasingly popular Northern Norwegian celebration—the EP delivers a fusion of hip-hop, ghetto-house, and drum & bass, packed with raw storytelling and sing-along choruses. A remix from Lofoten Bassklubb and a guest feature from Stormåsn (78)—Norway’s oldest rapper—add to the album’s eclectic charm.
Lofot-Rap: A Genre Defined by Coastal Grit and Humor
Born from the rugged landscapes of Lofoten, Lofot-Rap merges hip-hop with Northern Norwegian dialect, seafaring slang, and a sharp comedic edge. Since 2002, Gravdal Gangstaz has led the movement, using their music to capture the absurdities of Arctic life.
"We don’t just make party music—we celebrate our culture," says frontman Storm Von Lofoten. "Our lyrics are filled with inside jokes, tough love, and stories only Northerners truly get. But now, we want the rest of the world to experience it too."
A Party Soundtrack for Den store brennevinsdagen
Since Gravdal Gangstaz released their hit Den store brennevinsdagen in 2021, the event has gained cult status as an unofficial holiday. Now, Brennvin & Fesk provides an official anthem.
"We hope people will raise a Lofot-Shot—a shot of clear liquor garnished with dried fish—while blasting these tracks," says Storm.
Stormåsn (78) Proves Rap Has No Age Limit
Rap legend Stormåsn—known as “Lofoten’s Voice”—delivers a standout guest performance, showing that hip-hop knows no age.
"Music and humor go together like moonshine and coffee—especially in tough times," he says. "People will laugh as much as they dance to this record."

The EP launches nationwide and on all streaming platforms globally on March 25, 2025.
"This isn’t just an EP—it’s a statement of Northern Norwegian joy," says Storm. "It’s an invitation to dance, laugh, and embrace everything that makes us unique."
