  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) December 26, 2013 - Jose Loeri, President of GRAPHIC ILLUSIONS COMICS, launched a KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN for the second volume of the company's flagship title, INTREPID. This represents GI Comics' first foray into CROWD FUNDING, and the company plans for "PANDORA'S CAGE" to be the launch pad for the expansion of its SECOND WAVE UNIVERSE.

GI Comics debuted its first trade paperback, INTREPID: HEROES & VILLAINS, in April at AWESOME CON DC. The trade collected the title's first six chapters with the final six pages featuring the back-up story "A Moment Before Death", billed as a prelude to the Pandora's Cage story arc. "Heroes & Villains was just the beginning," says Loeri, also writer and creator of the series. "It was about how the team first met, but not why they decided to become a team. Pandora's Cage is the reason that a Second Heroic Age is needed in the SWU, and also the reason why the Intrepid team exists. The events in this story will define the SWU and set up stories that we want to tell for years to come."

"We turned to Kickstarter as a means to fund the production of this story", Loeri continued. "We've picked up a fantastic new artist named Luis Arturo Palacios, who we believe will take the industry by storm. His work is improving from page to page, and it's frightening to imagine what levels he will rise to if we can keep him working at a steady pace."

The Pandora's Cage Kickstarter campaign is set to run from December 20th to January 29th. If the campaign is fully funded, Loeri says the first chapters will be available for release at the 2014 Awesome Con DC. "We would love to have the first chapter ready for release at Awesome Con DC in April. It would be a great way to kick off what will be a great convention season. Intrepid is a work deserving of wider recognition. With the help of Kickstarter, GI Comics is looking to make 2014 the year of the Intrepid."

Graphic Illusions Comics is a Washington D.C. based original English-language manga company.
