  • (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2011 - P1 Groupe driver Jim Goughary entered last weekend's events at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course optimistic that he and his team had a car that could contend for victories, and they were correct. Goughary was near the top of the leaderboard in all practice sessions and qualified extremely well for both races on the weekend. Going into the race the team was struggling with the handling of the car, but knew they had a world-class driver behind the wheel to handle the situation. For race one Goughary qualified fourth, and became a fixture in the front of the pack during the race finishing an impressive third. During race one handling was still south of the #7 Raceworks Honda Piper DF5, but Goughary maintained his composure and ran a great race. For race two Goughary once again qualified fourth, but during the race the team began to experience a fuel problem that was robbing the Honda of horsepower. At race's end Goughary drove the car home in fifth, but his main focus now is on getting the fuel problem fixed for Lime Rock Park

"This weekend did not go as well as we would have liked." Goughary stated "We had a very hard time getting the car to handle but managed a 3rd Friday and 5th Saturday. The car on Saturday was much better than Friday's but we had some sort of fuel problem robbing us of horsepower. This was the same problem we had in the second race at Virginia International Raceway. We are scratching our heads a bit about this problem, but I am confident we will have it figured out by Lime Rock Park!"

The two Top-5s at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course moved Goughary up in the F1600 Formula F Series Driver Points Championship Standings from fourth to third.
Rounds seven and eight will take place at Lime Rock Park beginning on September 16th and 17th. Lime Rock Park is a 7-turn, 1.5-mile road course located in Connecticut. Follow action on the web at www.F1600Series.com.
