- (1888PressRelease) September 23, 2025 - On the occasion of World Conservation Day, GoSharpener, India’s leading youth-focused sustainability platform, in collaboration with Give Me Trees Trust (GMTT), organized Nature Walks and Nature Conservation activities across Pan-India schools. The initiative aimed to empower students to take practical eco-actions while deepening their understanding of biodiversity conservation and sustainable living.
Highlights of the Conservation Drive
Students actively participated in tree plantation drives, planting native species such as peepal, neem, banyan, and pilkhan trees known for their immense environmental benefits. Beyond planting, students gained hands-on knowledge about:
Species conservation – understanding which trees had been previously planted in the area.
Sun sheds (sun shelters) and their importance for tree survival.
Traditional vs. modern methods of growing trees.
Biodiversity impact of plantations and conservation initiatives.
The program went beyond one-day action. Students enrolled in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to ensure continuity of plantation and care, pledging to:
Create green patches wherever possible.
Upskill themselves with knowledge on sustainable planting methods.
Consistently plant more trees to support biodiversity and climate resilience.
Through GMTT’s expert guidance, each student took personal responsibility for greening their surroundings and creating a lasting positive environmental impact.
Leadership Insights
“We encourage students not just to set big targets like planting 100 trees in a year, but to take small, consistent steps that contribute to larger goals. What matters is planting the right trees at the right places, ensuring long-term benefits to biodiversity and ecosystems.” – Prateek Kumar, Co-Founder, GoSharpener.
“It is inspiring to see students across India participate so wholeheartedly in Nature Walks and Conservation activities. They move beyond classroom learning to take real, impactful actions that protect biodiversity and nurture the environment.” – Ankit Kapoor, Co-Founder, GoSharpener
