  • (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2010 - KUALA LUMPUR - Around 15,000 members of the Korean expatriate community residing in Malaysia are set to gain from Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur's (GKL) latest healthcare scheme which will provide special discounts for its extensive healthcare services to the community.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed earlier today between the Korean Society in Malaysia and the private healthcare provider, a move that will allow the members of this growing community to receive immediate extensive discounts on room rates, health screening, women wellness program (O&G), endoscopy services, outpatient and inpatient charges.

Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, Amir Firdaus Abdullah said the MoU, the first of its kind for the hospital will act as a catalyst for GKL to be recognized as a 'global community' healthcare provider.

"In this borderless and globalised era, healthcare is more accessible. We at GKL believe that there is a definite need to have a healthcare system that covers everyone no matter who or where they are from. In our efforts to promote medical tourism, we are always committed to providing the necessary healthcare services to the local expatriate communities before looking abroad," he said.

"By extending these discounts, we would also like to thank the Korean community for their support throughout the years. Every year, we see a constant increase of patients from the community. We understand that this signals the trust the community has towards our hospital."

As a 'global community' hospital, Amir said that the hospital will be forming many such partnerships with other expatriate community in Malaysia in the near future.
Chairman of the Korean Society in Malaysia, Lee Kwang Sun welcomed the move and believed that the hospital will be able to cater the needs of the community.

"In a small community such as ours, trust is very important, which for many years, many Koreans have trusted GKL when it comes to healthcare services. GKL has always taken the effort to understand our needs, with Korean staff members and translators on board. I am sure with this MoU, the relationship between the Korean community and GKL is further strengthened," said Lee.

"We hope that many Korean citizens will register at the Korean Society office in Kuala Lumpur to receive the discounts offered by GKL."Lee said that once the registration process is complete, each member of the community will receive a Gleneagles Privilege Card, which one will need to produce when seeking treatment to enjoy the discounts offered by the hospital.
