General Motors India's November 2010 Sales Grow By 17.67% At 8376 Units

  • (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2010 - New Delhi: General Motors India has registered a growth of 17.67% in sales in November 2010, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 8376 units in November 2010 against 7118 units in November 2009.

    The November 2010 sales comprised 2786 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 2547 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1476 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 617 units of the Chevrolet Cruze, 297 Units of Chevrolet Aveo, 291 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 262 units of Chevrolet Optra and 100 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.

    Celebrating a historic achievement in its journey in the country, General Motors India crossed the 100,000 unit mark on November 27, 2010, registering a staggering growth of over 63% from January to November 2010, compared to the corresponding period last year.

    The increase in the sales was primarily driven by the response to Chevrolet Cruze, Beat and Spark. Chevrolet Cruze and Beat have become the industry benchmarks in their respective segments and a winner among consumers in India, with their best-in-class design, performance and other product attributes. Chevrolet Spark, continuing with its impressive sales has won the top award for quality for the fourth consecutive year in the India Automotive Initial Quality Study announced by J.D Power Asia Pacific 2010 validating it as the one of the most sought after car in its segment in terms of quality, styling, performance and fuel efficiency offering a value for money proposition.

    Chevrolet recently completed seven years of its successful journey after its foray into the Indian market. It has commissioned the power train facility in Talegaon making this the first flexi-engine plant for General Motors globally wherein both petrol and diesel engines are going to be manufactured together. The company has also inaugurated the LNG facility at its factory premises at Halol for supply of gas to its car manufacturing plant and has also ramped up production by adding the second shifts at Halol and Talegaon plants to meet the increased demand of its products. It is also rapidly expanding its sales and service network to support the increasing market demand of its cars.
