  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) May 15, 2014 - GCFLearnFree, an online-based educational organization, has debuted GCF Projects, a mobile app for Android users that allows them to create, edit, and manage their own video playlists. The app is the latest to be offered by the organization. It joins the GCF Quiz app; GCF Answers for Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; and a variety of apps based on GCFLearnFree's online tutorials.

The GCF Projects app is a learning tool that is designed to allow YouTube users to collect the videos they want - whether they are educational or entertaining in nature - and manage them under their own specific playlists. The idea is to give users more control over the videos they watch - and how they watch them - by having a simple navigation, a swipe-and-tap interface, and the ability to personalize playlists.

GCF Projects also is considered a project collaboration tool because of its powerful features, including a Search tool and a Quick Mix feature, which allows users to choose from a variety of playlists to create brand new ones. It is ideal not only for consumers but also for educators, who can use the app to showcase the videos they want to use in their classrooms.

Another unique feature of the GCF Projects app is its ability to let users control when videos start and end. This eliminates not only advertisements but also long introductions and endings to videos. In short, it lets users pick and choose the elements of videos they want for themselves or for their students or fellow collaborators.

"This is our attempt at offering something that will help users learn faster and better, teach themselves better, and learn how they want," says Shane Keller, GCFLearnFree's technology coordinator. "It is designed for users to make these playlists their own, to feel empowered, and to have more control over the playlists they create and curate."
