Gardere Welcomes Former EPA Counsel to Dallas Office

  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) June 13, 2013 - Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is pleased to announce that Jonathan Bull has returned as a senior attorney in the Firm's Dallas office following two years as an enforcement attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As a member of the Firm's Environmental Practice Group, Mr. Bull will counsel clients on regulatory compliance matters and environmental issues in transactions, in addition to representing clients in environmental litigation and administrative enforcement matters.

    Mr. Bull served as an assistant regional counsel in EPA Region 6, which covers Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. At the EPA, Mr. Bull prosecuted administrative enforcement actions under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act, and the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. He also worked with the U.S. Department of Justice and the EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance on enforcement matters.

    Before his EPA service, Mr. Bull worked for nine years in Gardere's Environmental Practice Group. His practice includes litigation of claims involving contaminated properties, cleanup-cost recovery and underground storage tanks. He also defends clients in administrative actions filed by the EPA and state agencies under the Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act and state laws. He counsels clients on regulatory compliance and permitting matters in all environmental media and environmental issues in real estate and business transactions. He also counsels clients on environmental site investigations, response actions, and redevelopment of properties under state and federal regulatory programs.

    Mr. Bull earned his law degree at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He received a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his Bachelor of Science in Geology from Washington and Lee University.
