  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) January 10, 2014 - Goldin Athletic Training Association (GATA) announces the addition of GATA Leaders, a leadership program designed specifically for elite high school football players. GATA Leaders was developed to complement the sports athletic training programs it has been providing for the last 15 years to high school, college and professional athletes. GATA Leaders mission is simple; better prepare student athletes for the college recruiting process, for college life, for college academic standards and to be better leaders both on and off the field so they can graduate with a college degree.

The Leadership program is available to athletes of all sports, but all applicants and their parents must complete an extensive application that includes an essay on why they want to be in the program. They must also be recommended by a high school coach and they must be interviewed with their parents by a GATA coach before being considered and accepted in to the program. Scholarships to cover the program cost will be available based on need.

The GATA Leaders program was created in response to the high rate of NCAA athletes (40%) who do not graduate within 6 years of entering college. With input from both college and high school coaches, GATA Recruiting Adviser Jay Holgate designed the GATA Leaders program to raise the priority of academics earlier while preparing teenagers for the difficult regimen of college academics and sports.

"We felt very strongly that with the resources of GATA trainers and GATA alumni, we could help Atlanta's elite high school athletes get a jump start on the realities of college athletics and be better prepared for the college experience. Most of these elite athletes need someone pushing them in the areas of academics and character-building and less in the media hype because when the football is over, they need the college degree more than anything. Plus, college coaches love to get GATA athletes because they know they have been tested, have a strong work ethic, and the athletes have proven they can train in one of the toughest sports facilities in the country," says recruiting advisor Jay Holgate.

The GATA Leaders program provides monthly seminars led by former college athletes, life skill videos, life coaching and community service, corporate involvement and sports marketing activities. Speakers include former college and pro athletes as well as financial, academic, media and law enforcement professionals.

GATA is a sports performance training facility in Johns Creek, Georgia. In 2013, GATA had 32 of its athletes sign football scholarships from Division 1, 2, 3 and NAIA. GATA currently trains hundreds of athletes at the high school, college and professional levels including numerous NFL and Major League Baseball professionals.

GATA was rated the top combine training facility in Georgia by Inside the League 2013.
