  • (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2015 - Bangalore : It was a day unlike any other at the Bangalore campus of AIMS Institutes. As lilting music played in the background, everyone prepared to welcome the fresh batch of students to the hallowed grounds of the institute.

The event was organized as part of Esperanza 2015 to officially inaugurate the undergraduate academic sessions and celebrate Freshers' Day for the 2015-18 batch. The purpose of the celebration was not just to crown Mr. and Ms. Esperanza, but to make each and every new student feel like an integral part of the AIMS family.

The ceremony itself was a perfect example of harmony between youth and enthusiasm on one side and experience and inspiration on the other. It began with an invocation and welcome dance by students and proceeded with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Kiran G. Reddy (CEO, AIMS Institutes) and Ms. Roja Reddy (Director - Undergraduate Programmes).

The students at the ceremony were privy to some inspirational speeches delivered by the dignitaries invited to grace the occasion.

After earnest speeches by the dignitaries, the event took on a more light-hearted tone as the contestants for Mr. and Ms. Esperanza 2015 started walking the ramp in all their finery. All the contestants vying for the title of Mr. and Ms. Esperanza 2015 had to conform to a dress code without having to cramp their personal style. The selection was based on of the contestants' performance in five rounds, all of which had cricket-themed names like "Toss," "How's that," "Powerplay," "Googly" and "Slog over."

After having their wits thoroughly tested in the first four rounds, the 3 girls and 3 boys who made it to the final round were given a prop that they had to use in different ways as well as answer some tough questions posed by the judges.

Mr. Bikram (BCA) and Ms. Jyothika (B.Com) were crowned the winners based on their scores in the penultimate and final rounds. Mr. Basu (B.Com) and Ms. Sonia (BCA) were declared the runners-up.

There was plenty of entertainment for the audience in between the rounds with students from the four UG departments - BBA, BCA, B.Com, BHM and BA - putting up a brilliant show. This included dance performances on popular Bollywood numbers as well as regional songs, and some melodious renditions of famous Bollywood tracks.

In the end, it was a well-planned and executed event that saw the seniors and faculty at AIMS extending a warm welcome to their newest allies and setting the tone for the rest of their journey with the institute.
