  • (1888PressRelease) October 20, 2017 - The United States’ Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced on September 15, 2017, that it had restructured its website to allow requests for, updates to, and the cancellation of, registered identification numbers (RN), under the Fur, Textile and Wool Labeling Rules.

This update to the FTC’s website will allow real-time data validation for applications, helping stakeholders avoid unnecessary delays as possible errors will be alerted immediately. The new process will streamline the application process for businesses and help the FTC improve efficiency.

Current Fur, Textile and Wool Labeling Rules require most clothing, fur and textile products to contain a label that clearly identifies the manufacturer or responsible business, in terms of handling and marketing. The RN number can be used instead of the company name. They are issued by the FTC to US businesses that manufacture, import, distribute, or sell products under these regulations. The updated RN system will make it easier for businesses to obtain an RN.

The FTC is now advising all businesses with RN to visit the website to verify that the data they hold is correct.
