  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) August 24, 2018 - Mateo Blanco, an internationally renowned artist in Central Florida, is taking his art to the Winter Park restaurant scene. Guests of Cinco Tacos + Tequila can now admire and buy Blanco’s art as they enjoy their meals.

Blanco’s piece adorning the walls of Cinco Tacos + Tequila is called the ‘Desire’ series. Inspired by the legendary singer Madonna, ‘Desire’ series is an experiential piece of kinetic art. He created this optical illusion portrait by using slits. Depending on where you’re standing when you look at her, Madonna’s pose shifts. The piece is available for purchase by guests of Cinco Tacos + Tequila.

“My purpose in life is to make people happy through my art,” said Blanco. “For years, people have been able to enjoy my work at museums, but now I’m able to bring the art to them through restaurants. I can’t wait to take on new projects in restaurants throughout my city.”

“Part of the magic Cinco Tacos + Tequila has is combining great food with great art” said Michael “Q” Quatorini, Cinco Tacos + Tequila partner. “Mateo’s work is exactly what we were looking for in our restaurant. We look forward to featuring more local artists like Mateo in the future.”

Although Mateo Blanco’s work is primarily found in museums and private collections around the world, he plans to continue integrating his work into the restaurant industry. As of now, he’s currently working on exclusive designs for two restaurants in Disney Springs.

Blanco is known in the art world for his use of unconventional mediums and edible materials, such as sugar or coffee beans. Other noteworthy projects he has worked on include portraits of Jennifer Lawrence in peanuts, Oprah Winfrey in coffee beans and Dolly Parton made in pieces of cloth and string. This month, Blanco’s sculpture of ‘Leonard’ from Ninja Turtles, made of wool, is on display at the Wafi Mall in Dubai.
