  • (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2011 - Dubai - The franchising industry in the UAE is largely untapped because of the Asian mindset of reluctance to sharing of business expertise and practices, according to Abdulbasit Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME.

Inaugurating the Franchise UAE 2011, the largest national franchise and trade show, Al Janahi said Dubai's new strategy is to give an impetus to local SMEs and thus promote home-grown brands, as well as bring other brands from the region and the Indian Subcontinent to the UAE.

Mana Al Suwaidi, Commercial Attaché at UAE Embassy, New Delhi, said the Ministry of Foreign Trade was working aggressively to bring Indian entrepreneurs and brands to the UAE, as India is witnessing robust growth and a number of Indian brands are ready to enter new markets, especially the Middle East.

Gaurav Marya, Managing Director, Franchise Middle East, said the UAE was the ultimate destination for Indian brands looking for expansion. He attributed this to sound government policies and world class infrastructure. "Dubai is an attractive gateway for Indian brands wishing to go global. This event is just the first step in this direction," he added.

Also present at the event was Mohammed Bushanain, Executive Director, Corporate Quality and Management Excellence, Department of Economic Development, Dubai.

Among the companies taking part in the exhibition, which will run from April 14 to 16, are the renowned Internet marketing franchise WSI, British Orchard Nursery, Promise (personality development for kids), Thumbrule (talent testing specialist), Trade Xpert, Edify School, Webcom Technologies, CADD Centre (training company), Cantabil Italy, SMS Country, Fujairah Media, Infobahn Consultancy, Gitanjali Jewels, Why Not Lifestyle home décor and furniture, Derby, Café Jubilee, Tie rack, Satya Paul, Pizza Fusion, Siyaram's, Funland, Strands Salon & Spa, Col. Franchise UAE 2011 is a platform for new entrepreneurs, budding enterprises and established SMEs eyeing new areas for business expansion in Middle East.

The Middle East region has a scaling multi-ethnic population with high disposable income. More importantly, it has over 400,000 HNIs (almost 13% of total population) with large wealth holdings, each with liquid assets of more than $5 million.
