  • (1888PressRelease) April 16, 2020 - France has updated its list of standards that give presumption of conformity to Decree 91-1292. This decree aims to reduce the risks associated with using childcare articles.

Published in the Journal Officiel de la République Française (JORF) on February 8, 2020, the update includes two changes which will interest stakeholders. Firstly, the new list includes the latest revision to NF EN 1130 (November 2019) – Children’s furniture – Cribs – Safety requirements and test methods. Secondly, NF S 54-043 (September 2015) – Rainproof covers – Minimum safety requirements and test methods, has been withdrawn.

The text associated with the inclusion of the updated version of NF EN 1130 states that manufacturers and importers can still introduce new products to the previous standard until February 1, 2020. It is also possible to sell out of stock that is already on the market. It is hoped these provisions will allow a smooth transition to the new requirements.

In the case of withdrawal of NF S 54-043, this is because rainproof covers are no longer covered by Decree 91-1292. Stakeholders should be aware NF S 54-043 can still be used in relation to the General Products Safety Directive.
