  • (1888PressRelease) November 25, 2014 - Celebrity emcee Dave Kelly and star auctioneer Sheldon Smithens, of Canadian Pickers fame, will set the tone for a rollicking evening of Scottish entertainment with a uniquely Jewish twist as Calgary's Beth Tzedec Congregation and Woodridge PREP Centre present the 4th Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Beth Tzedec Synagogue.

"As a congregation devoted to serving the community at large, we are thrilled to be sharing proceeds with the Woodridge PREP Centre this year in support of youth with Down Syndrome and their parents," said Rabbi Shaul Osadchey.

The Honourary Co-Chair of the Burnstein Dinner is Gerry Wood, President of the Wood Automotive Group and generous philanthropist whose Woodridge Charity Golf Tournament gave the PREP Program its permanent home, the Woodridge PREP Centre.

Calgary philanthropist Sam Switzer and his clan have once again stepped up as lead family sponsors of the Burnstein Dinner. They are joined by lead corporate sponsor ATB Financial.

"With our new focus on children's charities, old friends and new have pledged increased generosity in 2015. We expect another incredibly successful cultural fusion that is fun for adults and puts smiles on the faces of some very deserving children," said Burnstein originator and Chair Leonard Seidman.

A Burns Dinner is a traditional celebration of the life and verse of Scottish bard Robert Burns, who lived from 1759 to 1796. Burnstein highlights include a traditional supper with "kosher Haggis" and a highland-inspired gourmet meal, Scotch tasting, the Calgary Police Service Pipe and Drum Band, the Calgary Burns Club Singers, limitless laughs and a sea of plaid, as far as the eye can see.

The 4th Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner takes place on Thursday February 5, 2015 at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail SW. Full details at www.RobbieBurnstein.com. Media welcome. To arrange interviews, contact Maxine Fischbein at 403-616-0320 or maxinef18 ( @ ) shaw dot ca.
