  • (1888PressRelease) August 13, 2010 - A guest house in Rosslare, County Wexford, has been awarded four AA Stars only months after re-opening under new ownership.

The Archways B&B, which is located in tranquil countryside a few minutes' drive from Rosslare Harbour, was bought recently by Chris and Eileen Hadlington, who refurbished the property and opened it in March 2010. The AA 4-Star accolade was given to The Archways in August.

"We are very delighted and believe that the award recognises the high-class facilities and particular charm that The Archways offers its guest who have come to stay in this peaceful part of South-East Ireland," said Chris, who has more than 40 years' experience in the hospitality and catering industry.

The Archways has six bedrooms, all ensuite, comprising two superior doubles, three standard doubles and a twin. The modern building is set in an acre and a half of quiet countryside, surrounded by farmland.

Chris and Eileen had previously spent the past 15 years running the highly successful Brasserie restaurant and catering company Cuisine Elite in Plymouth. "Eileen is Irish and we thought it would be nice to move over here and open a boutique-style guest house with fine food," said Chris. "We aim to offer our guests a very high standard of service."

All the food served at The Archways is locally sourced where possible and prepared freshly, including home-made sausages and home-baked Irish soda bread. Unusually for a B&B, and possibly uniquely in this part of Ireland, The Archways offers dinner, drawing upon Chris's many decades in the kitchen as a top-class and passionate chef. Recent main courses, for example, include Seafood Bourride, Beef Bourgignonne and Pork Two-ways: not the usual fare of a standard guest house.

Wexford county itself guarantees the visitor a peaceful break in gentle, unspoiled countryside, with championship golf courses, endless sandy beaches and sea and river fishing all close to hand. The region is renowned for its bird life, attracting bird watchers from around the world, and the absence of steep hills makes the area perfect for easy walking.

The Archways is situated around four miles from Rosslare Harbour and the ferry port, ten minutes from the town of Wexford, and around an hour and a half's drive south from Dublin. Room rates start from 34 Euros. More information can be obtained from The Archways' website at www.thearchways.ie
