Forecast 3D adds FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) with addition of a Fortus 900mc by Stratasys

  • (1888PressRelease) August 18, 2011 - Carlsbad, CA -The new machine will be able to print parts in a variety of materials, including ABS (in both black and white), Ultem 9085, PC-ABS, Polycarbonate, PPSF Polyphenylsulfone, Polycarbonate and PC-ISO. In addition to the machine, Forecast 3D also added STRATASYS' vapor finishing chamber, which will allow parts to receive vapor polishing as an added functional and more attractive finish.

    News of the Fortus purchase comes just weeks after Forecast 3D launched their new website along with a new "My Account" feature, which allows customers the ability to maintain a personalized interface with all quotes and orders. The newest feature to the website includes an instant file conversion software interface, allowing users to upload files from nearly any design software output without the need to convert to .stl.

    Specifically, the new upload and convert feature will allow customers to upload files in .sldprt, .igs, .stp, and native ProE & SolidWorks extensions and the site will instantly convert the file to an .stl for quick quote throughput. Once uploaded, a request for quote for every available service and material can also be selected.
