  • (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2011 - A State of Trance DJs and Fans embrace Flowd to deepen engagement

WHAT: Flowd, the social network for music lovers, is today celebrating the success of its partnership with the A State of Trance 500 tour. With over 100,000 people attending the tour across five cities, in five continents over five weeks, Flowd became the backbone of the massive global celebrations.

RESULTS: Over 51,000 discussions took place on Flowd throughout the tour; from Armin van Buuren asking fans to recommend their favourite tracks for the A State of Trance 500 compilation; fans arranging to meet up at events; and even one person using Flowd to preach for the trance family to redeem themselves with quotes from the bible!

Fans weren't just sharing their thoughts, but also their own photos and videos of their experience at the event, or their own at-home parties. Throughout the tour, over 2,000 party photos were uploaded through Flowd.

WHY: "Flowd allowed A State of Trance 500 to come alive online and it was great to get instant feedback from all over the world," explained headline DJ Armin van Buuren. "Flowd took the social aspect of A State of Trance 500 to the next level, and was an essential part of the success of the show."

"Throughout the A State of Trance 500 tour, you could see that fans were truly embracing Flowd to discover, engage and share their experiences. A State of Trance 500 showcased how the music industry can use Flowd to access social media features that truly connect with consumers and create significant value for all parties," continued Tommi Laitinen, SVP, Flowd. "The success of Flowd during this tour demonstrates what social marketing campaigns in 2011 and beyond can and will look like. With new mainstream artists signing up the service, the music industry is increasingly recognising Flowd's potential."

HOW DID IT WORK: Using Flowd, attendees were able to immediately share their pictures and reactions during the concerts from their mobile devices. Simply by snapping a photo and sharing through Flowd, the picture was automatically uploaded to the ASOT 500 site and shared to every visitor with the user's instant reaction. Artists also took their own behind-the-scenes photos and shared them via Flowd and on the ASOT 500 site. Once photos were uploaded to the site, they formed a timeline of the tour which allowed everyone to experience the events, even if they couldn't make it there in person, and allowed attendees to relive their favourite moments again and again.
