Florida Sunblazers Bring Awareness to Mental Health

Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, FL (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2022 - When owners, Harvey Harris, and his wife took over the Sunblazers they wanted to be the change in their community. They wanted the Sunblazers to be greater than just a professional basketball team. The Sunblazers provides an opportunity for young men in the community that want to play professional basketball, especially those who were overlooked or just didn’t receive the opportunity to showcase their talent.

This season, the Sunblazers want to bring awareness to mental health through the game of basketball. The Harrises have really been driven to help the community in that avenue. The Sunblazers are pleased to announce a partnership with the StayWhole Mental Health Foundation in Tampa. They want to bring mental health awareness to not only their athletes but also the community. The Sunblazers players will have access to a mental health therapist, a mental health podcast, and workshops. Harvey Harris said, “the ultimate goal is to change lives” and it is clear with this initiative that the Sunblazers are doing that.

The StayWhole Mental Health Foundation partnership is being added to the impressive partnerships of the Sunblazers. The Sunblazers are partnered with Isavefl for drug and opioid awareness by being a Narcan provider. They combat animal cruelty by donating a percentage of donations to the SCPA. They also are part of the fight against skin cancer with the mascot Sonny and donate a percentage of donations to local cancer centers. The Sunblazers are supporters of the Police Athletics League of Brevard County. They also work with WWBC 1510 Radio Station where the players help with food pantries and other community service events.
