  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2012 - Early attempts at "WHAT IS MUSIC?"

Xeno Giraffe & 21st World Future Music's "Comfort Ride" has, at last, been remastered for release digitally after months of preparation. The musical pieces were originally performed by computer in 2003, as an attempt by the artist to understand what makes certain arrangements of notes sound musical. A simple premise of "Was there a formula of listening to sound, humans would pick up as being musical, or would enjoy listening to." This led to months of experimentation in pursuit of an answer.

"I put the results of trying to get my computer to produce music with formulas together into a number of albums back in 2003," said Xeno Giraffe. "They are being released over the Summer months into the Fall."

"Comfort Ride" is composed of 4 parts or pieces:
    1. Comfort Ride
    2. Space Barge
    3. Data Dust Devils
    4. Bending Toward Light

The originally released 2003 version of "Comfort Ride", along with the other computer-math albums, were for sale online by CD, and stopped being sold in 2008.

With newer computers, software, and mastering techniques, the original versions were tweaked to enhance the aural experience.

Without any other musician or band to compare to -- the music fits into pure experimental, but with the intent on being musical, instead sounding like noise. Early musical experimental artists were Marcel Duchamp, who used unique ways to create a musical composition. Currently, there is a release from Georgia Tech of a melody from telemetry and astronomical bodies in transit. There are science techs who make music from the sequences of DNA.

Much of the experimental music field has very unique sound patterns and fields, but having musicality was a desirable outcome in using 2003 techniques developed then. "Comfort Ride", for all its flaws, made substantial in-roads into musicality in formula generated music.

Xeno Giraffe & 21st World Future Music has been releasing REMASTERED editions of experimental computer-math albums of that era on a monthly bases throughout the rest of 2012.

Now available for download from iTunes, CDBaby, AmazonMP3, Rhapsody and other online music distributors.
