  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) September 02, 2010 - From September 17-19 Living Poetry writers will pen poems through public-provided prompts in three minutes or less.

    How Spontaneous Poetry Works

SPARKcon festival attendees can visit the Poetry on Demand Booth and provide one dollar and one word. A Living Poetry member will then write a poem in under three minutes using or inspired by the chosen word. The customer will be given the handwritten poem as a keepsake of their experience at poetrySPARK. For writers, this will be a challenging event as they will have to write in the moment and "let go" of their work. For those receiving the poems, these will be special creations that would not have been written without the recipient's presence and prompt. The booth will be located in front of Isaac Hunter's Tavern, 112 Fayetteville Street in Raleigh.

    Volunteers Needed

Living Poetry is looking for more volunteer poets to participate with the Poetry on Demand Booth. Two-hour shifts are available from 4PM-8PM on Friday, September 17, 10AM-8PM on Saturday the 18thth and 12PM-7PM on Sunday, September 19th.

    Free Poetry Events in NC

Living Poetry does not charge membership or event fees and provides the community with dozens of free literary experiences from poetry field trips (Exploratory Poet) to intimate discussions with North Carolina poets (Poet Local). All monies generated from poems written on demand will be used to fund literary activities for the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Communities.
