  • Santa Ana-Anaheim-Irvine, CA (1888PressRelease) August 24, 2011 - While their skills are better suited toward putting out flames instead of cooking with them, members of the Costa Mesa Fire Department will nonetheless take over Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill at South Coast Plaza for a special fundraiser. Approximately 12 firefighters will arrive in grand style aboard their rig with Fire Chief Kirk Dominic leading the brigade on Wednesday, September 7.

From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., they will take over positions in the kitchen and on the floor to kick off Chile Fest, a fundraising program held Sept 6 - 25 whereby $1 from the sale of each item off the special menu will benefit the Costa Mesa Firefighters Widows & Orphans Fund. In addition, the firefighters will donate any tips they earn to the fund. The event will serve as the official kickoff for Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill's annual Chile Fest, an homage to the Hatch, New Mexico annual event that has been going on for decades.

According to General Manager Jeffrey Grasso, the fundraiser is a great opportunity for the public to give a big thanks to the brave men and women who serve Costa Mesa.

"We hope the community comes out in a show of force for this fun and worthwhile event," he said.

Added Paul Kim of the Costa Mesa Fire Department, "This is a great opportunity for the community to come out and show their support for the widows and orphans of fallen firefighters."
