  • Baton Rouge, LA (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2010 - Wealth Planners Gallery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is hosting a fall Art Show featuring the work of Louisiana photographer Matthew D. White. The show opens with a reception on September 24 from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. To celebrate the opening, the photographer will give a talk on Fine Art Photography.

In this collection Matthew White has captured fine art landscape images of every notable location on the Louisiana coast, including Grand Isle, Cameron Parish and the Lower Mississippi River Delta. The goal of this photo collection is to document for posterity this time and place in the landscape -- one that is slowly fading away, perhaps forever.

"I've always been attracted to things at the end of the line; the place where one thing ends and something different begins", said White. I imagine a kind of transition zone between those two places that's in a constant state of measured change, and that's where I look for the right image. The Louisiana Coast is alive with these destinations."

White is noted for his iconic photographs of coastal landscapes, waterways, industries, and urban locations along the Gulf Coast. Working in color digital and black and white film format, he specializes in the photographic interpretation of vanishing landscapes and landmarks, coastal wetlands and waterways, industrial marine and energy market infrastructure. Roads, bridges, refineries, ports, vessels, and lighthouses, as well as coastal towns, port cities and tourism locations all find themselves regularly revealed by his meticulous eye. Through careful attention to the composition and printing of his photographs, Matthew White's philosophy is to discover and capture the visual and emotional impact of a particular subject or locale.

While his love of the lens prevails, Matthew also earned a Masters Degree in music from the University of New Orleans. He is an accomplished jazz guitarist and has taught and lectured on music history at different points in his career. For him, both jazz and photography provide additional languages to speak to the world. However, in the free-form realm of these arts, Matthew remains a purist at heart choosing to use his camera and guitar as simple tools to express his vision.
Wealth Planners Gallery is located at 6230 Perkins Road in the Campus Federal building.
