Feminist Pioneer Susan Diamond Unveils New Works at Mint Mint in Porto
Susan Diamond unveils her latest series of works featured in Porto at Mint Mint. The exhibit runs through May 2026.
- (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2026 - PORTO, PORTUGAL - Feminist pioneer and self-taught painter Susan Diamond opens her first solo exhibition in Portugal this month at Mint Mint, Porto. Debuting April 24th, and running through May 2026, the exhibition presents a visceral body of new large-scale acrylic works that have defined Diamond’s illustrious three-decade career.
Diamond’s canvases are subliminal transmissions. Bold acrylic paint encapsulates strong women, Nature, alien abduction, metallic bleak skyscrapers, and colors that scream. Each work is a story - dream state symbolism, contrast, texture, and mood - pulling viewers directly into the artist’s subconscious mind.
A graduate of The School of Fashion Design in Boston, MA, Diamond transitioned from fashion to painting, forging a self-taught practice that rejects traditional hierarchy. Her international exhibition history spans London, Berlin, Italy, Athens, and East Sussex, including: Decima Gallery, Bermondsey (1996); The Dragon Bar, Hastings Old Town (2015, 2016); The Palace, Hastings (2016); Ironic Gallery, Berlin (2017, 2018); Never Fade, Soho London (2019); Finale Borgo, Liguria, Italy (2018, 2019); and various pop-up events in Athens (2024), alongside numerous shows throughout Shoreditch.
