  • (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2010 - Several fan made pages have been created on Twitter for various WNBA players by fans of the womens professional basketball league. The WNBA Movement also runs a Facebook page, Youtube account and blog for several WNBA players.

"We are starting these pages in the offseason to build up hype for when the season starts next summer", said one fan page owner, "The WNBA needs fan support to stay alive and we want to help."

The WNBA Movement was created by fans who they say the primary mission is to promote the league to the social networking audience. There are currently 15 fan pages devoted to several WNBA and USA womens basketball players.

"There are so many ideas and goals for the WNBA Movement, that they are all mixing together", said the owner of a WNBA Movement page dedicated to WNBA star Diana Taurasi, "Different people have created different things, but everyone is carrying the load. There are quite a few teammates in this movement, and there are more everyday"

The WNBA Movement is not sanctioned or endorsed by the league. It is strictly fan maintained and operated.

"Our #1 goal for movement is to be united, as a team, to support and promote the WNBA and its players. We want to see the WNBA raised higher than before."
