  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 12, 2014 - Prominent victim's rights and women's rights attorney and activist Gloria Allred will be honored at Face Forward Foundation's Fifth Annual Gala, "A Venetian Masquerade" this Saturday evening September 13, 2014 at The Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Allred will be presented with the esteemed "Voice Award", honoring her commitment to women's rights and her continued efforts to combat domestic violence. Founded by Deborah Alessi, Face Forward Foundation provides pro-bono reconstructive surgery for victims of domestic violence. As its most important fundraising and awareness-building event of the year, The Fifth Annual Gala, "A Venetian Masquerade" will look to raise a record-setting goal of $500,000 for 2015 to support their patients and celebrate the lives and accomplishments of survivors.

"It is an honor and a privilege to have Ms. Allred accept the Inaugural "Voice Award" in support of her efforts to stop domestic violence," said Founder of Face Forward Deborah Alessi. "She is a true role model for all women and an inspiration to all that in the face of adversity, it is possible to instill effective change for generations to come."

Allred is a founding partner of the law firm of Allred, Maroko & Goldberg (AM&G). Her firm handles more women's rights cases than any other private law firm in the nation and has won hundreds of millions of dollars for victims. AM&G is best known for its work on behalf of victims in civil rights, sexual harassment, child sexual abuse, domestic violence and rape cases. Over the course of her 38-year legal career, Gloria Allred has won countless honors for her pioneering legal work on behalf of women's rights. In 1986 Ms. Allred won the President's Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. President Ronald Reagan presented it to her at the White House. For many years she has been voted by her peers as one of the best lawyers in America and she also received the President's Award from the National Association of Women Lawyers. In 1998, the Los Angeles Business Journal named her "One of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Los Angeles Law". In 2000, The Daily Journal named her "One of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in California". In January 2014 The National Trial Lawyers honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her trailblazing and pioneering role in combating injustices and winning new rights especially for women and minorities.

Gloria is also a three-time Emmy nominee for her commentaries on KABC television in Los Angeles. Her nationally syndicated television show "We the People, with Gloria Allred" was also nominated in 2012 for a Daytime Emmy Award. Ms. Allred is also the author of "Fight Back and Win, My Thirty-Year Fight Against Injustice - And How You Can Win Your Own Battles". Last year, President Obama introduced Ms. Allred as "one of the best attorneys in the country".

"It is truly an honor to receive this distinction from the Face Forward Foundation," said Attorney Gloria Allred. "Especially in light of recent events that have pushed the conversation of domestic violence back into the spotlight, now, more than ever, is the time to provide more support for victims of violence, especially those in intimate relationships, to demand harsher punishment for violent offenders and to work to eradicate domestic abuse during our lifetime."

Featuring a special musical performance, this star-studded event will be masquerade-themed and feature celebrity guests, a silent auction and the honorary awards ceremony dedicated to raising funds and awareness for this increasing epidemic. Face Forward Foundation will also honor, in addition to Allred, Sugar Shane Mosley for his inspirational work and on-going efforts to draw awareness to domestic violence. Confirmed guests include: Lana Parrilla (Once Upon A Time), Missi Pyle (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Artist), Jennifer Coolidge (American Pie, Legally Blonde), Joely Fisher (Til Death, Ellen) Shohreh Aghdashloo (24), Bonnie Sommerville (Ugly Truth), Anne Heche (Save Me), Shaun Toub (Iron Man), Finola Hughes (General Hospital), Jen Lilley (Days of Our Lives), Erik Valdez (Graceland), and Josh Levi (X-Factor).
