  • (1888PressRelease) August 27, 2010 - Biotech Builders is a Danish and Swedish networking organisation for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology companies and brings together executives, venture capitalist firms and pharma representatives from within the Nordic Medicon Valley region.

Neil Goldsmith has extensive entrepreneurial experience in the biotechnology sector, among others in the Nordic region, and a successful track record of building companies. Neil is CEO of Evolva, an international, synthetic biology company that he co-founded in 2004. Evolva is using biosynthetic and evolutionary technologies to artificially create and optimise small molecule compounds and their production routes. This approach differs from the mainstream in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Evolva has built a pipeline of promising compounds aimed at infectious disease and cardio-renal indications and has established several discovery partnerships across the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. Evolva employs more than 90 employees, across four sites in Switzerland, Denmark, the US and India. It listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange in 2009.

Prior to Evolva, Neil co-founded TopoTarget A/S and Personal Chemistry AB (now known as Biotage AB) which are now listed on the Copenhagen and Stockholm exchanges respectively. Prior to this, Neil was CEO of Auda Pharmaceuticals (which was acquired by Phytera Inc), GX Biosystems and PNA Diagnostics (acquired by Boehringer Mannheim). He previously held the position of VP Business Development for Pharmacia Biosensor (later BIAcore AB), and was a Board Member of Quadrant Healthcare.

Biotech Builders is a Danish and Swedish networking organisation for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology companies in the Öresund region. It is a non-profit organisation and hosts a meeting for biotechnology business leaders in the region each year. For more information on Biotech Builders, visit www.biotechbuilders.com
